SING A SONG THAT'S YOURS STUDIO POLICIES 2025/2026

Music Lesson Location:

Sing A Song That's Yours provides singing lessons to students out of my home based music studio on the North side of Lethbridge.

Lesson Days:

Scheduled lessons are provided Mondays through Fridays. There are no classes on statutory holidays. Lesson days and times are arranged between the client and the teacher. Please contact me via text, email or phone to arrange your lessons. It is important to note that unfortunately, I’m not a secretary and cannot chase after you to arrange and setup future dates/times of your lessons as I’m a very busy person running a full time business.

Lesson Length:

Voice lessons generally take 50 to 60 minutes long.  Weekly lessons are mandatory, unless further agreed upon between teacher and student.  At the time of signing up, it’s important to note that having the intention to try at least three months (minimum) of lessons is required before you decide to discontinue. My music lessons are ongoing throughout the year (summer included) unless students wish to take the summer off.  In that case, students and/or parents of students understand that lessons will be carried out until the end of the school year - last week of June.  Students who are taking a summer break and plan to return for the following fall season, need to pre register (pre-pay) at the end of June so you are guaranteed a spot when you come back.   

Children under the age of 8, I teach 30 minute classes.  Unless you feel your young one can handle the full hour.

VERY IMPORTANT

Lesson Time for Scheduled Lessons:

The time of lesson is pre-arranged and remains the same each week for each student.  Exceptions to the schedule can be negotiated directly between the student and teacher as long as 24 hours advance notice is given.

Tardiness:

If you’re late for your lesson, the length of the lesson is limited to the remaining time left which means if you are twenty minutes late, you’ll only be given the remainder of your lesson time and no more than that.  If you’re more than 30 mins late, please know that your lesson is missed and charge.  Please do not come for the remainder of your lesson as it’s a waste of everyone’s time.    

IMPORTANT: If you are sick, have a scratchy throat, or have flu like symptoms, PLEASE contact me ahead of time so you can cancel.  If you are feeling unwell, please do not come to lessons.  This puts me and my studio at risk for others getting sick.

Cancellation Policy

It is very important for all students, and/or parents of students, to clearly understand the studio cancellation policies.  Your lesson time slot is valuable and reserved for you and you only.  PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOUR LESSON TIME IS MADE EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOU.  I VALUE YOUR BUSINESS AND ASK THAT YOU RESPECT MY SCHEDULING POLICIES.

If you miss a lesson or don’t give me notice ahead of time, you will be charged  in full for the scheduled service.  I recognize the value of my students time, as well as my own time, and have implemented this policy for a reason.  When you miss an appointment, not only do I lose business but also potential students wanting to fill that time slot also miss out.   

Unlike a hair salon, there are no “walk-ins”, so when you miss a lesson, that time slot is wasted for everyone.

IMPORTANT: All cancellations must be received at least 24 hours before the start of the lesson.  This gives me time to fill that slot with someone else who’s available.  If you need to re-schedule your lesson for a different day within that week, I’ll make all possible attempts to try to find you a spot if one comes available.

LESSONS CANCELLED WITH SHORT NOTICE AND NO SHOWS WILL BE CHARGED IN FULL.   

Absolutely NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS  

If students do not continue to follow up to book their next lesson after 1 month, it is assumed that they have decided not to proceed with their voice lessons and therefore, that spot can and will be fulfilled by another student.  

If you are cancelling the same day as your lesson please call or text me directly ASAP at 403-915-2017, so I know you are not coming and can plan the day accordingly.  Thank-you!   If a student does not show up for their lesson and has not made any effort to contact me to cancel, I apologize if I do not contact you right away.  If I have any extra time to spare in my day, I’m usually getting caught up with chores, grocery shopping, errands and tasks for running my business.

End of Year registration:

It’s advisable to note that I take 2 weeks off during December into the new year (January). Dec. 20th, 2025 - Jan. 4th, 2026 .

Students who are wanting to continue their lessons after the winter break must pre- register (pre-pay) before January so they have a spot coming back into the new quarter.  I get so many new inquiries for the new year and need to make count how many spots I have available.  Spots are limited.

Lesson Cancellations by Teacher:

If your teacher needs to cancel a lesson, the student will not be charged. All possible efforts will be made to provide students with suitable opportunities to reschedule any cancelled lessons within that week or the next. 

Payment Timing:

IMPORTANT: Payment for lessons will be paid in a timely fashion.  Payment is made on every fourth lesson (week #4) as you will renew for another four lessons.  Receipts are available if needed and lessons are thoroughly documented.  Please be advised that if you miss a week of lessons (by complying with our cancellation policies), you will still have a unused lesson and will be carried over to the following week.  Please note that this system is NOT “by the month” but by four lessons at a time.

Payment Method Options:

Payment will be made by Interact E-transfers or by cash only.

Vacation Plans:

If a student has pre-planned vacations during a semester when lessons would normally be provided, advanced notice to Sing A Song That's Yours is greatly appreciated. If advanced notice is not provided, I cannot guarantee you a spot when you return as I only have limited time slots for all my students and getting new inquires all the time.

Discontinuation of Lessons:

If a student does not wish to continue with lessons, please notify me as soon as possible. Advance notice of 4 weeks from the date that lessons are to be stopped is expected. Thank-you!

Amendment of Policies:

Sing A Song That's Yours voice lessons reserves the right to change and/or modify our policies at any time without notice.  My music studio also reserves the right to discontinue lessons with a student who does not comply with any of these policies, or is disrespectful to my business & the integrity of other students wanting to learn.
